03 Numbers Explained: 0300, 0330, 0333 and 0345
03 numbers are UK-wide numbers that are not tied to a place, so they have no area code. Banks, retailers, utilities, councils and charities use them for customer service. A call to a 03 number costs no more than a call to a 01 or 02 landline and counts towards inclusive minutes, but it is not free.
Because anyone can get a 03 number, it does not prove that a caller is genuine. Look up the full number in the search box above before you call back.

03 number questions
What are 03 numbers?
03 numbers are UK-wide numbers that are not tied to a place. Organisations use them so customers can reach them on one number from anywhere, and they include 0300, 0330, 0333, 0344 and 0345.
Are 03 numbers free to call?
No. Calls to 03 numbers cost no more than calls to 01 and 02 numbers and count towards inclusive minutes on most landline and mobile plans, but they are not free. Numbers starting 0800 and 0808 are the freephone ones.
Is 0333 or 0330 an area code?
No. 03 numbers are not tied to a place, so none of them is an area code. Area codes belong to landline numbers starting 01 or 02.
What is the difference between 0300, 0330 and 0333?
0300 numbers are intended for public bodies, charities and not-for-profit organisations. 0330 and 0333 can be used by any organisation. They cost the same to call.
Can a scam call come from a 03 number?
Yes. Anyone can get a 03 number, and scammers can also fake one (spoofing), so a 03 number does not prove that a call is from a bank or a government body. Look the number up before you call back and never share one-time codes.
